Juan Diego Center in Omaha Hosting Spanish/English Community Baby Shower with UnitedHealthcare and Nebraska Organizations to Help Moms Deliver and Care for Healthy Babies

  • Attendees to learn about Baby Blocks®, an innovative online incentive program that helps pregnant women and new parents with prenatal and well-baby care

WHAT:UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Nebraska and the Juan Diego Center in Omaha are hosting a community baby shower with Nebraska resources for expectant moms and new parents at Catholic Charities Juan Diego Center in Omaha.

The baby shower will include presentations in Spanish and English about important prenatal and well-baby care information. In addition to resources from the Juan Diego Center and UnitedHealthcare, parents will receive tips for taking care of their babies, including information on prenatal and postpartum care, and child safety.

Participating organizations include:

  • Juan Diego Health Facilitator and Minority Health Outreach
  • Omaha Healthy Start
  • OneWorld Community Health Centers
  • Douglas County Home Visiting Services
  • Creighton University Medical Center
  • Family Housing Advisory Services, Inc.

All guests will receive a gift bag with baby and infant items. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational games and raffles, and will also receive information about UnitedHealthcare’s free online wellness-incentive program, Baby Blocks, which helps parents manage doctor visits and other baby care during pregnancy and the first two years of a child’s life. The programenables users to receive email appointment alerts and wellness-related text messages, connect directly with maternity nurses, and earn rewards for keeping the appointments. Rewards include gift cards to retail outlets, and maternity-related items such as teething rings, diaper bags and thermometers.

WHY: The baby shower is part of a series of community events taking place throughout the state by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan to provide expectant moms and new parents with important prenatal and well-baby care resources and information. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan is hosting this event to help mothers understand the resources and support available to them and how to get the most out of their health plan.

VISUALS:  Baby shower atmosphere celebrating moms and moms-to-be, and providing educational materials and information to encourage prenatal and postpartum well-baby care through innovative programs and services. Interviews with Juan Diego Center and UnitedHealthcare representatives, and attending guests. Attendees will receive gift bags and have the opportunity to win door prizes including a Pack N Play, diaper bag with diapers and other well-baby items.
