Nebraska communities across the state to celebrate National Welcoming Week

Events September 14-23 highlight value of diversity and welcoming new neighbors
Nebraska communities across the state are holding events celebrating how our towns are made stronger by welcoming new neighbors from all different cultures and backgrounds during the 7th annual National Welcoming Week September 14-23.
Organized by local communities across the country, National Welcoming Week is a nationwide series of events bringing together new and long-time residents in a spirit of unity, highlighting the benefits to everyone of a welcoming community. Launched by Welcoming America in 2012, National Welcoming Week has continued to grow, and this year is expected to be the largest celebration yet. In 2017, there were more than 700 events across the country.
“National Welcoming Week gives Nebraskans a chance to celebrate our rich cultural heritage and welcoming communities,” said Lee Kreimer, program associate at Nebraska Is Home. “People from many different backgrounds have contributed to Nebraska’s culture and called Nebraska home – creating strong, vibrant communities for us all.”
