**** PRESS RELEASE ****

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of the 1600 block of E Avenue where it was reported that a hunters dog fell thru some ice on a private lake and the hunter was trying to rescue him. The hunter was 30 year old Andrew Sedivy from Sioux City. The hunters were hunting in a field just south of the Lake when a goose went down into the lake and Andrews service dog Jake went in after him. Jake made it out to the goose and the ice was very thin and he fell in. Andrew tried to make his way out to his dog and ended up falling thru the ice when he made it to him. After Andrew fell in he gathered enough strength to help his dog Jake get out of the frigid water and we put him in a truck. Dakota County Sheriff’s Office Deputies along with the owner of the property and the hunters put a canoe on the ice and then got one guy in the canoe and made it out to Andrew and then we pulled Andrew and the canoe to the edge of the lake. DCSO Deputies along with Nebraska State Patrol, South Sioux City Police Department and Dakota City Rescue got Andrew pulled up off the bank and he and Jake were transported to Mercy and treated and released.
