The Sustainable Community Nonprofit Grant Program is a Public Works initiative designed to encourage nonprofit organizations to apply for up to $10,000 in funding for projects that help to meet the goals within the City’s Sustainability Master Plan. Total funding is limited to $10,000. The application deadline is March 1, 2019, and the award recipient(s) will be notified on April 1.
Projects must work toward advancing at least one of the following goals within the Sustainability Master Plan:
• Waste Minimization: Improve community health and safety by providing programs, education, and leadership to reduce waste generation; increase innovative waste diversion programs; and appropriately manage toxic and hazardous materials.
• Water Resources: Wisely manage local and regional water, wastewater, and storm water to create a high-quality sustainable system.
• Energy: Utilize clean, efficient, and reliable energy for the city and community as a whole.
• Transportation: Provide an efficient, multimodal, and cost-effective transportation system that offers increasingly clean measures for all users.
• Built and Natural Environment: Promote sustainable land use and development to manage growth while conserving the environment and natural resources.
• Community Vitality: Promote health and wellness by encouraging businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, and individuals to improve the community’s triple bottom line.
“Sioux Falls is home to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations that are all working hard to help enhance our community. We want to partner with these organizations to identify common goals and continue to make Sioux Falls a sustainable place to live, work, and play,” says Sustainability Coordinator Jessica Sexe.

PROGRAMA DE SUBVENCIONES COMUNITARIAS SIN FINES DE LUCRO ACEPTA SOLICITUDES PARA 2019
El Programa de subvenciones sin fines de lucro de la comunidad sostenible es una iniciativa de obras públicas diseñada para alentar a las organizaciones sin fines de lucro a solicitar hasta $ 10,000 en fondos para proyectos que ayuden a cumplir los objetivos dentro del Plan maestro de sostenibilidad de la ciudad. El financiamiento total está limitado a $ 10,000. La fecha límite para la solicitud es el 1 de marzo de 2019, y los beneficiarios del premio serán notificados el 1 de abril.
Los proyectos deben trabajar para avanzar al menos en uno de los siguientes objetivos dentro del Plan Maestro de Sostenibilidad:
• Minimización de desechos: Mejore la salud y seguridad de la comunidad al proporcionar programas, educación y liderazgo para reducir la generación de desechos; aumentar los programas innovadores de desvío de residuos; y gestionar adecuadamente los materiales tóxicos y peligrosos.
• Recursos hídricos: gestione sabiamente el agua local y regional, las aguas residuales y las aguas pluviales para crear un sistema sostenible de alta calidad.
• Energía: utilice energía limpia, eficiente y confiable para la ciudad y la comunidad en general.
• Transporte: Proporcionar un sistema de transporte eficiente, multimodal y rentable que ofrezca medidas cada vez más limpias para todos los usuarios.
• Entorno construido y natural: promover el uso y el desarrollo sostenible de la tierra para gestionar el crecimiento y conservar el medio ambiente y los recursos naturales.
• Vitalidad de la comunidad: Promueva la salud y el bienestar alentando a las empresas, agencias gubernamentales, organizaciones sin fines de lucro e individuos a mejorar el triple resultado de la comunidad.
