Omaha, NE—Congressman Brad Ashford is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Veterans Resources and Jobs Summit, an event geared toward putting veterans to work.
When: Tuesday, July 26th from 12pm to 6pm.
Where: Ramada Inn Convention Center, 3321 S 72nd Street, Omaha.
“Our veterans have served our country with honor, and now it is our duty to help them successfully transition back home,” said Ashford. “Last year’s Summit was extremely successful, and my office is looking forward to having a record number of attendees and exhibitors this year.”
Over 100 exhibitors including the area’s premier employers, Small Business Administration (SBA) and Omaha Chamber of Commerce will be on hand. In addition the Department of Veterans Affairs will conduct health screenings and assist veterans with casework.
Representatives from the SBA and Chamber will hold informational sessions for veterans who are interested in starting their own business.
“By cutting the budget typically used to send promotional mass mailings, my office was able to increase funding for this and other outreach events that actually benefit the 2nd District,” said Ashford.
“This is a great opportunity for veterans to connect with companies that have special initiatives for hiring veterans. Please come prepared for an interview.”
Congressman Ashford has sponsored or cosponsored 50 veteran related bills during his first 17 months in Congress.
The legislation includes increased funding for homeless veterans and a first-of-its-kind public private partnership to build a state-of-the-art medical center alongside the existing VA Hospital near 42nd and Center.
