According to the Omaha Police Department, since the pandemic began, the numbers of gun violence and homicides in the city suggest that it is worsening, taking into account that in 2018 and 2019 the rate was below 20 while last year there was a considerable increase that grew until the age of 30.
Worse that is not all, since in the same investigation by FOX 42 News, the number of non-fatal shooting incidents also surpassed 100, something that had not happened in any of the last four years.
These statistics also reflect what is happening in other major US cities, across the country. Something that intensely reinforces the debate on easy access to the purchase and sale of weapons. But also hard work for organizations trying to keep the crime rate low, and who have had to adapt amid the coronavirus outbreak.

It should be noted once again that the 16-year-old accused of killing someone during the weekend shooting at Westroads Mall is being held without bail, after a judge denied it on Monday.
