The Heartland Workers Center governing board has accepted the resignation and retirement of executive director Sergio Sosa, and thanks him for a lifelong devotion to developing leaders and promoting civic engagement.

Serving as interim director of the Omaha-based nonprofit is Dulce Magdalena Sherman, owner of Sherman Executive Consulting and most recently a member of the HWC Board of Directors.

“We thank Sergio for his tireless efforts to the Heartland Workers Center and a lifelong commitment to creating change and leaders within our state’s immigrant and underrepresented communities,” said board president Jamie Gutierrez.

Sosa has led the HWC since 2009. The HWC Board of Directors, staff and supporters remain steadfast in our commitment to continuing a legacy of fostering a culture of civic engagement and leadership building throughout Nebraska.
